About ThomasThomas Fernandez is a freelance photographer based in Glendale, Arizona, who specializes in action sports and editorial portraits of athletes, with an emphasis in track and field. Thomas developed a passion for photography while participating in various sports as an athlete.
Thomas started his journey as a photographer covering his alma mater, San Diego High School. Since then, he has covered countless events throughout the United States. Those events have included AYSO soccer, local meets, the Mt. SAC Relays, NCAA Division 1 Track and Field and the National Championships. The focus of his photography is both sports action and documentary, where he creates his own style of capturing images of particular sports. Thomas is able to capture unique images of sports while telling the athlete’s story. His photography incorporates concepts portraying a perspective of the sport by using creative techniques. Thomas’ goal is to have his audience to feel involved in the experience, in its action and its environment, thus enabling one to visualize another aspect of the sport. In 2019, Thomas received a certificate in photojournalism. Thereafter, he received an Associates of Arts in photography, economics, and science and mathematics emphasis from Santa Barbara City College. In addition, he earned an Associates in Science in business administration also from Santa Barbara City College. Thomas Fernandez is a graduate of Arizona State University (ASU). He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the W. P. Carey School of Business and was an intern for the ASU Athletic Department. He continues to volunteer as a photographer for the Santa Barbara Track Club and Bring Back the Mile. |
